Parkinson's Disease Advocate Program
Newly Diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease (PD)?
The diagnosis of Parkinson's is a scary time for individuals and their caregivers. PD is a complex disease impacting each person in a different way, so there's no one-size-fits-all approach to managing the disease.
Our PD Advocate Program can help. We train advocates - volunteers who have grappled with the disease - to come along beside you and assist in a number of ways, such as pointing to information and resources related to your specific individual needs, as well as providing encouragement and emotional support.
Our Advocates Offer:
Encouragement
Keep moving; look up! Don't give into the disease. PD waits for no one!
Positivity
Foster a "can do" attitude.
Discovery
Assist individuals and their families to discover new solutions to their issues while coping daily with the effects of the disease.
Resources
Help solve issues and obtain resources as needed and available.
Developments
Share ideas and new innovative developments
